Come sail away with us and let your every care melt into each
golden sunset. Captain Sasha and Tara take great pride in
tailoring each day to surpass your every expectation. Sunrise
watersports, afternoon snorkeling, or dancing the night away
under the stars -- you name it, we'll make it happen!
Below is an example of how your week could look:
As you move aboard SOTERION, Capt. Sasha will mix up one of
his signature cocktails while Tara helps you settle in. Then,
we cast off the bow lines and set sail for our next great
adventure. We begin with a quick sail across the Sir Francis
Drake channel over to Norman Island, well known for it's famous
treasure caves. Lesser known for its rugged hike up Spy Glass
Hill, long ago used by many a pirate to keep watch over the
surrounding waters and islands.
Rise and shine with the sun and take time to relax with
a hot cup of freshly pressed coffee and local fruits. After
breakfast we set sail for a refreshing snorkel over the
wreck of the RMS Rhone, one of the best preserved natural
wrecks in this part of the world. After lunch we head up
towards a little-known island near The Baths for an amazing
sunset and picture perfect end to our first full day together.
Sasha mans the grill as Tara prepares a tropical feast just
Wake up at the Baths to enjoy a light breakfast and morning
snorkel into the maze of house-size boulders. Lose yourself
in the shallow pools where waves splash and light dances
on the boulders in a series of private rooms. As the crowd
begins to form we raise the sails and enjoy a hardy lunch
underway as we point towards Savannah Bay. This afternoon
is reserved for beach combing, sandcastle building, and
watersports! Have fun while Sasha or Tara pulls you on the
tube, wakeboard, or water skis -- everything is safe and
fun for all ages!
Greet the day at your own pace to enjoy a healthy brunch
and morning swim after which we will cruise up to the one
of our secret afternoon anchorages to enjoy the wide array
of ocean life during a guided snorkel or a short kayak expedition.
We will then enter the North Sound of Virgin Gorda and berth
in Leverick Bay to dance the night away with the local Mocko
Jumbies show, a lively traditional performance featuring
costumed dancers on stilts, meant to ward off evil spirits!
If you are up for another adventure and a fresh lobster
dinner on the beach, we will make the crossing up to Anegada,
known to Christopher Columbus's men as the "Drowned
Island". This island has the third largest barrier
reef in the world and your trip will not be complete until
you have had the opportunity to swim over it. Sit back on
the luxurious deck and watch for the green flash just as
the sun dips beneath the watery blue horizon. Dinner will
be arranged with one of the local restaurants -- no one
does lobster like the good people of Anegada!
Relax and enjoy your book during our leisurely down-wind
sail towards Marina Cay. Once anchored we recommend a quick
dingy trip over to Trellis Bay to visit the caribbean artisan
community that is thriving there. This is the place to purchase
authentic souvenirs. Just before dinner you will have the
distinct pleasure of sharing a few drinks with another good
friend named Michael Beans during his theatrically entertaining
Happy Arrrrr show.
Rounding the south tip of Great Camanoe Island the next
morning, we will be well aligned for our next destination.
The barefoot island of Jost Van Dyke lies just ahead. While
humming tunes from the night before we will make our way
towards her pristine sandy beaches, swim-up beach-shack
bars, and guided ATV tour trails. Relax aboard while Tara
and Sasha prepare yet another satisfying meal, then hit
the water once more. Sasha will lead a hike just before
sunset to catch another glimpse of a green flash as the
sun sets near St. Thomas. Some clear evenings you can even
see the lush mountains of Puerto Rico in the distance.
A leisurely sail turns lively
as we round the western tip of Tortola and enter the Sir
Francis Drake channel once again. Soterion's sails harness
the trade winds as her twin keels slice through the seas.
At this point you are one with the boat and the water and
the wind. Relaxed, tanned, and ready to go back home...
almost! Alas our trip comes to an end back at the dock in
Tortola and as you head home you are already planning your
next trip aboard Soterion. Spend another week in the BVI
as there is plenty more to see... or perhaps visit different
islands and cultures elsewhere in the Caribbean. Tara and
Sasha have sailed the entire chain and can set up an itinerary
for you anywhere in the Windward and Leeward Islands.
